Poplar Harca, established in 1998, is an award-winning Housing Association in East London that helps to create a place where people, communities and businesses grow and thrive. Their website is an essential tool for their residents to find out information and report issues in their estate.
Poplar Harca required a new website to help their tenants find the information they needed quickly and easily, implementing their recent rebrand.
Red C worked alongside a branding agency to create detailed wireframes mapping out different user journeys for different audiences. Red C interviewed staff from different departments to find out the issues they were having with the site and used this information to create a new structure that was easy to navigate.
We also ensured that Poplar Harca staff could update the website themselves with any new information. To date, Red C has a long term partnership with Poplar Harca, managing and hosting their websites.
Red C visited Poplar Harca to carry out detailed user testing interviews. We created a list of tasks and questions for members of staff from different departments to complete. We then recorded their screens while they completed each task to see how they interacted with the current website, and to flag any issues.
We found that the Poplar Harca website had an abundance of useful information to offer visitors, however, most of it was hidden away on pages that were difficult to find. Thus, whilst building the new website using Drupal, a powerful open source content management system, the team ensured that the sight was user friendly offering easily accessible information.
The site includes many different forms allowing tenants to inquire about their homes, the community and many local businesses.
We created a workflow in the backend, allowing the relevant information to be submitted by website users to notify the correct department.
