Beyond by Evolve
Beyond by Evolve. Life beyond GLP-1
Beyond by Evolve is an iPhone app for people taking Mounjaro or Wegovy who want to reduce or stop their medication, or who have already stopped. It turns a pharmacist-led taper and maintenance programme into an app, with a dose plan, daily check-ins, tools for cravings and direct messages with the pharmacist. Evolve GLP-1 is a healthcare advisory service run by an independent prescribing pharmacist. Red C Mobile built the iOS app, the web-based infrastructure behind it, and the portal Evolve’s team use to support their patients.
The challenge
Evolve’s pharmacist supports patients as they come off GLP-1 medication. Evolve wanted an app that would carry that programme between consultations, with a dose plan, daily check-ins, tools for cravings and a direct line to the pharmacist.
The brief had several hard parts:
- A taper plan that runs on dates. Each patient steps down one dose at a time at the pace they chose, and the app has to move them on and remind them at the right moment.
- Scores the pharmacist can rely on. The rebound risk assessment and the weekly stability score had to follow the programme’s rules exactly, and stay traceable when those rules change.
- Logging people will keep up. Meals, water, activity, weight and cravings all feed the scores, so entering them had to be quick, or automatic where Apple Health already has the data.
- Support with limits. Patients message the pharmacist and book paid consultations within allowances set out in the terms.
- Careful handling of health data, from consent and audit logs to account deletion.

The solution
We built a native iPhone app in SwiftUI, the web-based infrastructure behind it, and a portal for Evolve’s team.
The iPhone app
- Onboarding asks about the patient’s medication, dose, reasons for stopping and side effects, then runs a rebound risk assessment across 13 factors. The result is low, moderate or high, with a breakdown for each factor.
- The taper plan steps down one dose at a time at a standard, moderate or fast pace. Patients see their roadmap, the days until their next dose change, and a reminder when it’s due.
- A weekly stability score from 0 to 100 combines weight, cravings, nutrition, exercise and behaviour.
- Steps, workouts, meals, water, weight and waist size sync from Apple Health. Imported food is grouped into meals, so syncing again never adds duplicates.
- For cravings there’s a log with triggers and intensity, insights on peak times and top triggers, If-Then plans, recorded voice memos, and a breathing exercise built as a bubble-popping game with haptics.
- Patients message the pharmacist with photos and files, book paid consultations with Apple Pay, and subscribe through the App Store after a free trial.
Web infrastructure and staff portal
In the staff portal, each patient has one record showing their onboarding answers, risk result, taper plan, stability history, nutrition, exercise, cravings and staff notes, and patients are grouped as stable, monitor, strain or crisis.
The messaging inbox updates live and has templates for common replies. The team also write and schedule articles for the in-app knowledge hub, choose which patients see them, send notifications and emails, and track active users, retention and revenue.
Account deletion requests, marketing consent and staff actions are all logged, and deleted accounts are anonymised after a grace period.
Payments, scoring and scheduling
App Store subscriptions are checked on the server. The server verifies Apple’s signed transactions itself, all the way back to Apple’s root certificate, before it unlocks anything. Consultations are booked through Cal.com and paid for with Stripe, and unpaid bookings are released automatically.
The risk and stability scores are versioned, so every saved result records which version of the rules produced it.
A nightly job moves patients on to their next taper phase before the reminders go out, so nobody is reminded about a dose they’ve already moved past. Check-in nudges and quiet hours follow each patient’s local time.
The result
Beyond by Evolve launched on the App Store in September 2026, under six months after the first line of code. Patients get their taper plan, scores, cravings tools and pharmacist messages in one app, and Evolve’s team follow each patient’s progress in the portal, working from the same data.
