Pool Lifeguard Training System

Bourne Leisure, a prominent name in the leisure and hospitality industry, oversees a vast network of lifeguards crucial to ensuring guest safety across its venues. Recognizing the need for a more efficient way to manage lifeguard training and qualifications, Bourne Leisure collaborated with Red C to develop the ‘BLL Pool Lifeguard Training’ system. This web-based platform revolutionizes how lifeguard training processes are administered, tracked, and maintained, marking a significant leap towards operational excellence and compliance.

The challenge

Managing the rigorous training schedules and certification validity of 500 lifeguards working across 57 different sites presented a logistical challenge for Bourne Leisure. The existing manual and disparate systems for tracking training progress, qualification expiration, and continuous skill development were inefficient and prone to oversight. There was a critical need for a centralized, automated solution to manage the lifecycle of lifeguard qualifications, ensuring all lifeguards remain compliant with safety standards and training requirements.


The solution

Red C designed the ‘BLL Pool Lifeguard Training’ system, a responsive web application tailored to the specific needs of Bourne Leisure. The system features include:

  • Automated Training Assignments: Training sessions are automatically assigned to lifeguards with date and time stamps, simplifying scheduling and attendance tracking.
  • Colour-Coded Qualification System: Utilizing a colour-coded system to indicate qualification expiration dates (Red for 2 weeks, Orange for 1 month, Green for more than 1 month), ensuring clear visibility of compliance status.
  • Email Alerts: Custom email notifications are sent for various actions such as training allocation, completion status, and impending qualification expiration, keeping all relevant parties informed in real-time.
  • Continuous CPR Training Allocation: The system automatically schedules CPR retraining every two weeks, ensuring lifeguards’ skills are always current.
  • Brand-Specific Customization: Super admins can tailor training content specific to each brand under Bourne Leisure, allowing for bespoke training pathways.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: Advanced reporting features, including CSV downloads, offer detailed insights into training progress, qualification statuses, and compliance across all sites.
